By way of background, opening thoughts: Chianti and Italy - what two words go better together?
Original tasting and review, September, 2011: This is Ruffino Chianti, Italy, 2009, finished at 12.5% alcohol.
In the glass: Light red with a pink blush.
On the nose: Poured cool with a moderate decant and swirled vigorously, shows funky fruit and light horse manure. From the aroma, seems like this will be light and old world in nature.
On the palate: The primary elements on the palate are in fact bright, but secure and slightly round red fruit, red currants and plums. Soft red berries move to a clean close with integrated acids.
In summary: Overall, a pleasant light red experience, a bit too simple and light to draw me back soon, but gaining a nod for for clear presence in a friendly package. A good value.
Following long decant, two days kept cool in partially filled bottle: All the funk is gone from the nose. Now sweet and clean red berries in the aroma. Simple, but round red currants on the palate. Bright acids. Pleasant enough light red experience.

Updated review, a year later, September, 2012: Consistent color. No funk on the nose. Light fruit and cinnamon. Easy and clean red fruit on the palate. Light but tasty. Three stars. Now a best value at its bargain price point.
