Check out today's pricing and retail availability for Cameron Hughes Zinfandel.

By way of background, opening thoughts: Cameron Hughes is a negociant, pulling surplus wines and juice together under an umbrella label, seeking higher value per price than the originating wineries can achieve.  This is a single vineyard zinfandel from the label.  There are half a dozen or so labels that source from these vineyards, so I won't even venture a guess as to the originally intended label.  But most do, indeed, retail for considerably more than this modestly-priced offering.

Original tasting and review, October, 2011: This is Cameron Hughes Lot 219 Zinfandel, Monte Rosso Vineyard, Sonoma Valley, California, 2009, finished at 15.3% alcohol, a whopper.

In the glass: CH Lot 219 is bold inky magenta, just turning opaque in the center of the glass.

On the nose: Poured cool with a brief decant and swirled vigorously, shows bold, rich, structured fruit with definite oak surround sound.  From the aroma, seems like this will be thick, chewy and perhaps sweet in feel, with some higher-toned red notes.

On the palate: The primary elements on the palate are in fact deep black and red currant fruit, rich in the mid-palate, almost viscous, with fruit elements of ripe blackberries and raspberries.  A bright ring surrounds the sweet middle, and tannins accompany the sweet red acids to a lingering but clean finish.

In summary: Overall, bold and bright/balanced experience rates four stars on the five-star Spirit of Wine scale, making this a best value.

Updated review, over a year later, December, 2012:  Consistent color.  Bright black, blackberry nose and bold, spiky aromatic elements.  Still strong, solid, bold fruit plus solid underlying red berry tannic structure.

Updated Review: *** $$ C&B Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve, 2009

Find prices and retail availability for C&B Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve.

By way of background, opening thoughts: It makes sense to understand the origins of the wines you drink.  Usually (not always, but usually), a winery will describe the most particular level at which its wines were procured.  So "California" is a much wider range than "Napa Valley", which in turn is a much wider range than a particular section or vineyard within "Napa Valley".  Here we are trying a "Napa Valley" cabernet sauvignon, sourced from multiple regions or vineyards within Napa. In assessing this wine also, please recognize that the term "Reserve" has no formal meaning in California.  If a vineyard has a wine without a "Reserve" designation, then the "Reserve" labeling would mean something.

Original tasting and review , October, 2011: This is C&B Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve, 2009, finished at 14.1% alcohol.

In the glass: C&B cabernet shows deep, almost black burgundy, opaque a quarter inch from the edge.

On the nose: Poured cool with a brief decant and swirled vigorously, shows deep and soft black fruit, framed with some oak.  From the aroma, seems like this will be bold, sturdy and chewy.

On the palate: The primary elements on the palate are in fact bold and poignant ripe plums with a solid tannic backbone.  Full ripe plums fade cleanly to the finish, with the tannic robe.  Some red currants showing through as well.

In summary: Overall, with its deep and bright potency, rates a solid three stars on the five-star Spirit of Wine scale, almost picks up a plus for its red fruit-driven layers.  May show more with additional time.

Following long decant, full day kept cool in partially filled bottle:  The nose is more shy, but the palate has grown richer with ripe plums.  Still smooth tannins in the finish.
------------------

Updated review, over a year later,  December, 2012:  Consistent color and aroma a year later.  Holds its tangy, plum flavor, brings on sleek, red currants on the finish still as well.  Holding up, but not adding complexity or notable texture.

By way of background, opening thoughts: Malbec and Argentina "go together like a horse and carriage", especially when the malbec hails from the Mendoza region, which is the case here.

Original tasting and review , October, 2011: This is Tupun Valle de Tupungato Malbec, Mendoza, Argentina, 2008, finished at (a mere) 13.5% alcohol.

In the glass: Tupun is deep black burgundy, opaque from a quarter inch of the edge, with glittering purple highlights, despite being three years from vintage date.

On the nose: Poured cool with a brief decant and swirled vigorously, shows soft, deep blackberry and some oak with some purple and concord grape overtones.  From the aroma, seems like this will be bright yet substantial.

On the palate: The primary elements on the palate are in fact an inky and deep bold fruit in the center palate.  It brings dry black cherry with a sleek wrapper of fine tannins and a lifting brightness.  The finish lingers, moving to a lightly cheek-tightening "clench" at the very end.

In summary: Overall, varied layers that rate three stars on the five-star Spirit of Wine scale.  Excellent value at acquired price. May have a bit of age-worthiness left.

Following long decant, full day kept cool in partially filled bottle:  Nose is a little softer, but with the same stylistic elements.  Palate is fully consistent.
-------------------

Updated review, over a year later, December, 2012:  Consistent, friendly fruity nose.  Nice clarity, depth and sleekness in the palate now.  Strong in its fourth year since vintage date.

Updated Review: ***** $$$ Hundred Tree Hill Cabernet Sauvignon, 2002, Victoria, Australia - BEST VALUE

To contact us Click HERE

Check out today's pricing and retail availability for Hundred Tree Hill Cabernet Sauvignon.

By way of background:  Hundred Tree Hill Cabernet Sauvignon, 2002, from Victoria, Australia, includes 15% cabernet franc in the mix.

Original review, September, 2008:

In the glass, it is very deep burgundy, almost opaque.

Aroma is a bright, eucalyptic cabernet, reasonably deep, but seeming to be somewhat alcoholic (true alcohol level is 14% - high for cab, but not out of the range for Australia).

The palate does bring an inky sweet black fruit to the fore, chased by a tasty bright edge that crawls up the sides of your mouth.

The finish is long, somewhat charred and still alcoholic.

But interesting overall, and could even use more time than the 6 years already in the bottle. Three stars out of five.
--------------------------

Updated review, over three years later, now a full decade from vintage date, January, 2012:  Very consistent color.  Aroma now brings an intriguing old-world pleasant funkiness (barnyard, not oxidation) to the mix.  Compelling.  Sweet black fruit remains on the palate with a wonderful old-world aromatic overlay.  Stunning now.  Finish is both bright and deep, sparkling in your cheeks all the way.  Five stars.  Hundred Tree Hill is now absolutely at its peak, a decade from being grapes on the vine.  Teeth-shattering best value. Following long decant, full day kept cool in partially filled bottle: More subtle nose.  Palate stays consistent. Following even longer decant, four days kept cool in partially filled bottle: This has held incredibly consistent for the long stay in air.
----------------

Updated review, almost another year later, late December, 2012:  Consistent color and intense barnyard-in-a-bottle aromatics.  Still a stunning blend of old and new, funky and boldy friendly, deep and piercing.  Wonderful find.  The 14% alcohol from this 2002 vintage serves the wine well.  Later vintages are a bit lighter.

Updated Review: ****+ $$ Formula Small Gully Robert's Shiraz, South Australia, 2005 = BEST VALUE

To contact us Click HERE
Find Formula Shiraz prices and retail availability.

By way of background: The Formula Small Gully Robert's Shiraz is a shiraz selected from South Australia vineyards and finished at a big 15.9% alcohol for 2005.

Original Tasting and Review, March, 2010:

In the glass: This Robert's Shiraz shows as deep beet red in the glass, opaque in the middle and just beginning to brick at the edge.

On the nose: Poured cool with a brief decant, this Aussie shiraz sports bold, layered red fruit on the nose, with a solid oak overlay.  With a vigorous swirl, sweet beefy tones come out.

On the palate: The first element on the palate is earthy sweet red fruit, think red currants with a honeydew texture and sweetness.  That moves across your tongue with a furry, slightly motor-oil infused texture, full of slick and still-bright red berries all along.

And the wrap-up: The finish is an extension of the creamy red-fruited middle, leaving just the right hints of residual flavors.

In summary: Overall, intense, layered, pleasurable experience. Rates a full four stars on the five-star Spirit of Wine scale, making this a remarkably powerful value.

Jay Miller of Wine Advocate also gave this a thumbs up with 90 points, writing, "The Formula Robert’s Shiraz exhibits an expressive nose of bacon and blueberry leading to a layered, easy going wine with a smooth texture and intense flavors. This superb value can be enjoyed over the next five years."

Following a long decant, four-days kept cellar cool in a partially-filled bottle: This is like Methuselah, doesn't change a speck with age!  No difference in nose or palate after this exceedingly-long decant.
--------------------------------------

Updated review, over two years later,  April, 2012, now seven years from vintage date:  Still medium deep red, with hints of brick at the edge.  Remains big, beefy and bold on the nose.  Almost piercing.  The palate holds its prior elements of earthy red fruit and melon-like sweetness.  Along with the motor-oil infusion, a slight element of age has crept in - though just a slight element.  Adds a nice tone without making this at all generic.  Strong showing.  Ready to drink up now. Following long decant, four days kept cool:  Luxurious, brightly bold nose. Holding absolutely solid on the palate.  This is an Energizer Bunny!
----------------------------------------

Updated review, another nine months later, late December, 2012:  The nose has grown a bit more subtle.  But the palate... omigosh, sweet as ever, fragrant and voluptuous.  Gets a plus for its intense pleasurability.  Gonna be awesome with bacon-wrapped turkey burgers in a sweet-seared glaze.

Original tasting and review, September, 2011: This is Silver Creek Cabernet Sauvignon, California, 2009, finished at 13.% alcohol.

In the glass: Medium red with purple highlights at the edges.

On the nose: Poured at room temperature with a brief decant and swirled vigorously, shows shy cassis fruit.  From the aroma, seems like this will be light on the palate, with a more feminine style.

On the palate: The primary elements on the palate are in fact gentle, light, slightly aromatic fresh blackberries and plums, brought across your palate with a lightly acid and lightly sweet sweep. The finish is brighter, with blackberry tones yet crisply clean.

In summary: Overall, rates two stars on the five-star Spirit of Wine scale, with a plus for its easy-going nature.  Would work nicely at a meal that you might otherwise be considering for pinot noir.

Following long decant, full day kept cool in partially filled bottle:   More plum on the nose.  The palate brings forth more dry plums and light tannins.
---------------------

Updated review, over a year later,  December, 2012:  Deep burgundy.  Very shy plums on the nose.  Consistent, light, balanced, friendly, not memorable palate.

By way of background, opening thoughts: Carneros is tucked between Napa and Sonoma in California and is a popular region for pinot noir.  This particular pinot is picked from vineyards just about evenly split between the Napa portion and the Sonoma portion.

Original tasting and review, November, 2011: This is Cameron Hughes Lot 276 Los Carneros Pinot Noir, Carneros, California, 2009, finished at 14.2% alcohol.

In the glass: Medium red in the glass, with both brick and purple highlights.

On the nose: Poured cool with a brief decant and swirled vigorously, shows solid red cherry and raspberry fruit with some tight oak.  From the aroma, seems like this will be impactful with both sweet mouth feel and solid acids.

On the palate: The primary elements on the palate are in fact full and lush deep red fruit on the middle palate, with sleek, layered undertones that glide to an effortless, long, clean finish.  Sleek blackberries and cherries form the core of the experience.

In summary: Overall, flavorful and structured experience rates an easy four stars on the five-star Spirit of Wine scale, making this a best value, and an awesome value in an under-$20 pinot noir.

Following long decant, full day kept cool in partially filled bottle: Consistent aroma, more cherries and less raspberries.  Remains sleek, layered and flavorful.
----------------

Updated review, over a year later,  December, 2012:  Medium red in the glass, the purple highlights are gone.  The oak is gone from the nose, but the red cherry and raspberry remain.  Remains lush, flavorful and layered on the palate.

Updated Review: ***** $$$ Cameron Hughes Lot 300 Cabernet Sauvignon, Napa, CA, 2009 = BEST VALUE

To contact us Click HERE
Check out today's pricing and retail availability for Cameron Hughes cabernet sauvignon.

By way of background, opening thoughts: Napa Valley is the classic United States location for classic cabernet sauvignon.  Cameron Hughes is a negociant focused on providing value-priced wines at any price point.  For each 100th lot, Cameron Hughes is trying to go all out with a hyper-value.  So this 300th lot is garnering quite a bit of interest, even as it comes out at one of the highest CH price points. (Typically, the Cameron Hughes cabernet sauvignon's come in at the value-price or medium-price points.)  But as a Napa Valley cab and a centennial lot number, CH Lot 300 is no doubt seeking to make a statement about classics and high value.

Original tasting and review, November, 2011: This is Cameron Hughes Lot 300 Cabernet Sauvignon, Napa, CA, 2009, finished at 14.5% alcohol, with touches of malbec and petit sirah, and sourced from a range of vineyards around Napa Valley, including Oakville and Rutherford with smaller amounts of Atlas Peak and Stags Leap, from a producer that is said to produce no wines at costs less than $100 US a bottle.  Aging is 18 months in primarily new French oak.

In the glass: Lot 300 is deep mahogany in the glass, deep red at the edges.  Not opaque anywhere - somewhat surprising given the high alcohol.

On the nose: Poured cool with a brief decant and swirled vigorously, shows deep cassis and substantial eucalyptus, with ripe red berries and oak bubbling along the edges.  From the aroma, seems like this will be substantial, juicy, with lush layers.

On the palate: The primary elements on the palate are in fact dark milk chocolate on the palate, followed by ripe blackberry fruit.  Almost surprisingly gentle tannins and acids in a predominantly deep, rich, fruitful, sleek experience. Finish is easy but lengthy.

In summary: Overall, full, layered experience rates four stars on the five-star Spirit of Wine scale.  Good potential for age.  In its youth, a solid wine and great experience, and providing value consistent with its premium Cameron Hughes price point.

Following decant, three hours in flat bottomed decanter:  softer red fruit on the nose.  Incredibly friendly palate of integrated fruit, chocolate and silty tannins.  Almost coconut creme chocolate overtones.  Very nice.   And even longer decant, two days kept cool in partially filled bottle:    Sweet and integrated fruit on the nose.  Silty, soft and integrated palate, coconut chocolate creme comes through big time.  Adds a plus for extreme pleasure.  Good value.  And after a crazy-long decant, three more days kept cool in partially-filled bottle, total of five days:  Wow.  Still solid and integrated, with consistent and intense flavors.  A real rip-van-winkle.
---------------

Updated review, over a year later,  December, 2012:   Color and the juicy nose are entirely consistent with one year earlier.  Classic, earthy, silty chocolate creme on the palate.   Bright and soft and layered and deep all at the same time.  Finish gently yields into your upper cheeks.  Holding up extraordinarily well - now just touches our top rating: five stars.  Becomes a best value, even with its high end roots and price point.

By way of background, opening thoughts: Spring Mountain is a widely known cool region of Napa Valley, favoring classic cabernet sauvignon.  This young cabernet sauvignon is 100% Spring Mountain grapes, from negociant Cameron Hughes.

Original tasting and review, November, 2011: This is Cameron Hughes Lot 267 Spring Mountain District Cabernet Sauvignon, Napa Valley, California, 2009, finished at 14.6% alcohol.

In the glass: Deep inky magenta, opaque about an eighth of an inch from the edge of the glass.

On the nose: Poured cool with a brief decant and swirled vigorously, shows deep, layered, rich dark fruit in a voluptuous package of soft, silty, shaved milk chocolate.  From the aroma, seems like this will be flavorful, deeply aromatic, soft, yielding and lengthy - I can't wait!!

On the palate: The primary elements on the palate are in fact much as promised, with brighter and more apparent fruit than expected, especially ripe blueberry mixed with cherry and blackberry elements.  As the sip settles, the tannins come slowly marching to attention, fixing the finish for almost a minute - clean, big, still fruity and layered.

In summary: Overall, rates four stars on the five-star Spirit of Wine scale, with a plus for aromatics that are themselves worth the price of entry.   Good value.

Following long decant, full day kept cool in partially filled bottle: Consistent, luscious nose.   The brightness on the fruit has layered in to the palate now, creating a silty and deliciously fragrant experience.

Naked Wine Review 107Wine: Cru Beaujolais Red Wine Grape Variety: GamayProducer: Potel-AvironVintage: 08'Region: France>Burgundy>Cru Beaujolais>JulienasPrice: 17.00Date tasted: 10/10/12Place tasted: I don't know. Where the hell was I? Honestly, I don't think anyone has ever been to THAT place before, naked or otherwise. It was cold. It was dry. It was sunny, and it was hot as well. The last thing I remember I can't remember...know what I mean? I think God was with me, or was it Bob? Thank Dionysus there was a good bottle of wine there so I could at least go mad in style. To the Cult of the Souls! Cheers All.Served with: Fried green tomatoes with dollop of Greek yogurt, and marinated grilled chicken. Her light floral nature goes well with dishes that most white wines also agree with, such as chicken and vegetables; she will also work well with simply prepared red meats. She's pretty versatile; you could even serve chilled if that's your thing. Avoid with seafood or heavy cream sauces.   Appearance: A very light and clear garnet with burnt orange refractions. She'll light up your glass when she pours into it.On the snoot: Sandalwood and strawberry combine in a haunting perfume. Quite heavy on the sandalwood, she has an enchanting presence. Love the snoot.Taste: She makes a grand and unforgettable entrance dressed in rich flavors of juicy strawberry, bright and quenching without being sharp or edgy. Earth and wood incorporate with jammy fruit and just a sprinkle of pepper in mid palate. Finishes long and satisfying with soft tannin and a slight hint of tobacco. Balance: Medium to light weight with beautifully toned legs. She packs a fair amount of acid; light on tannin and alcohol, sugar too, for that matter; thin, but healthy and full of energy. She's happy, well balanced and sane. I wonder what that's like? Comments: From what I've heard of Beaujolais I did not expect to be that impressed. Wrong! I am simply smitten. She is bursting with depth and character. A well dressed, poised, and brilliant woman of a wine...not the giggling little girl that I expected. (don't tell the 08' I said this, but I bet the 09' might be even better...well, you know those 09's have a reputation ;)

Anyway, preparing lamb during commercial breaks and beginning to sip wine at an appropriate hour, I felt as sane and solid as a snowflake; or some kind of flake anyway. Served with: Lamb roast with roasted vegetables. They bring out the best in each other like all good matches do.  Appearance: She's dressed in a deep dark, blissfully opaque ruby gown, dancing and swirling gracefully around your glass. On the snoot: Floral on the snoot; featuring a hint of Jasmine resting on soft earth. Taste: She opens with a fascinating fruit combination of pie cherry sweetened by naked black current hugs. Well integrated thick chewy tannins mingle with tar, creosote, and just a hint of vanilla from start to finish, which lingers long and dry. Balance: Well balanced medium body with lots of tannin. A soft fuzzy wine, showing a complex and intelligent nature.Comments: Opens up nicely after an hour or two, so let her breathe well before imbibing. In other comments, WARNING: Never watch commercials. Nice and dry with no sticky sweetness, and yet no sharp bite or bitter edges either.Comments: She's sings soprano well, which not all soprano's manage to do. This wine embodies the scent of that image.Taste:  Dense, dry and complex, she is a vision dressed in black current, anise, and cracked pepper. A mouthful of pleasing elements such as earth, mineral and wood accessorize her charming demeanor. The long full and satisfying finish with plentiful soft tannins leaves your palate feeling joyfully blessed and spiritually grounded.Balance: She is perfectly balanced; focused, centered and clear in her intention. She moves slow like lava and displays a full sensuous naked body with no one particular feature dominating another. Comments: This wine takes place in a different time. It's as if you can taste the ancestors in the grapes flowing through ancient vines, like the blood in all of us.

Dubreuil-Fontaine Pere & FilsVintage: 10'Region: France>Burgundy>La Chapelle Notre-Dame>Bourgogne ControleePrice: 20.00Date tasted: 12/12/12Place tasted: I was in an abandoned tree house in the middle of ol' Grapers back woods. Someone would have asked me if I were alright had I not messed up my trail of bread crumbs. It had snowed on my gold fish earlier which made him happy as he chased the little flakes around his bowl. There was a nice selection of wine in that warm solar-paneled tree house so I chose this French Pinot Noir to sip on as my view expanded over twilights indigo kingdom; crescent moon shining silent and empty on the earths snowy winter facade.Served with: I had it with baked salmon and miso butter served on a bed of spinach and fresh basil garnished with lemon wedges. Fish, chicken, duck, cream sauces, mushrooms, brie...all good choices. Go with subtle flavors to complement the delicate beauty of this wine.Appearance: A pale clear candy apple red through which a gentle neon orange glow emanates. On the snoot: Strong powerful floral nose mingling with strawberries and soft wet moss.Taste: Fruit forward with strawberries, clean and dry. Complexities featuring slight mushroom and sweet earth join the ride in mid palate followed by a slight feather dusting of tannin on the finish which lingers and levitates like a blessing before her final ascension.Balance: Well balanced, light and dry. She is elegant with colorful complexities, depth of character, and well defined integrity. Comments: All good wines go to heaven, and this truly fine Pinot Noir has earned her wings. She tastes like an exotic floral bouquet (and I don't say that to all the wines).
p.s. May you all have a marvelously decadent Solstice & Saturnalia. Exchange garden gnomes, eat human shaped biscuits(good luck getting the one with the bean), drink up the good cheer and drunken naked carol till your cold hard nipples and neighbors can't take anymore. Io! Saturnalia!

the description at the store

Comments: This is a great Sauvignon Blanc! Today we ventured down to the Haymarket in Boston and grabbed some amazing fish (tilapia) and fresh asparagus, which turned out to be a great pairing with this wine. This Russian River Valley wine had some of the potent grassiness that we've come to enjoy in Marlborough SB along with flavors of lime and a touch of basil, but it finished with a creamy woodiness that differed from the flinty culmination typical of New Zealand varieties. We really enjoyed this one and look forward to having it again very soon.

Comments: OK, we have to brag. This photo was taken from our new iPhone. Why did we have to take it on our iPhone? For some reason, no one has provided a label of this wine, not even the official Bloom website! And that's a crime, because this is an excellent wine! Fantastic, when considering the price. This wine from the Mosel-Saar-Ruwer region of Germany provides flavors of pineapple, lemon, and a hint of pear. It finishes with some spice that came to the fore when paired (perfectly) with Moroccan swordfish. This inexpensive wine can compete with some of the best Gewurz's that we've enjoyed (and Whole Foods named it a Top 10 wine for holiday entertaining). We would definitely buy this again.

Comments: Frickin' Almond Husks. That's right. Almond husks. Who the hell knows what almond husks taste like??? I'll tell you who. A pretentious idiot whose opinion about wine you definately do not want to trust. And yet, it's the winemaker that lists among this wine's flavors . . . almond husks. Also (and not surprisingly), the winemaker finds an array of tropical fruits with quince, ginger, and lees. Speaking of which, what the hell does a lee taste like? Denim? But nevermind, we're here to review a wine. And it's a good one, although we're not sure it deserves its place in the top 100 wines of 2007 by Wine Spectator. Although we didn't note almond husk, we did enjoy its pear and grapefruit flavors. The smell is "minerally" apparently, although Rob isn't sure it doesn't have a faint scent of cat pee (but in a good way!). The finish is fairly long and buttery, and a tad bitter, but also in a good way. We would get this one again but we're not sure it's worth the price when some really fantastic Sauvignon Blancs cost less and would pair equally well with similar food (seafood, particularly shellfish).

The Spanish Quarter Cabernet Sauvignon-Tempranillo 2006

Price: $8.99 @ Gary's Liquors
Recommended by: We like Spanish wines!
Comments: This inexpensive red is a tasty mix of Cabernet Sauvignon (55%) and Tempranillo (45%). Flavors of berries (mainly cherry) and chocolate dominate the palate with a bit of spiciness, and the wine has a longer finish than you typically find at this price range. We enjoyed it tonight with pizza with mushrooms and spinach and it was tasty. Not too fancy but very good.

I was remembering what air was like and how much I really used to enjoy breathing it. I miss the days before the fires and smoke when undines fell from the sky, singing and gently tapping at my window beckoning me to join in their liquatious celebration. Until we meet again, I will smile with delight in anticipation of our inevitable joyous reunion. Cin Cin!Served with: Grilled sirloin steak & ratatouille. Complements with medium to strong flavors such as herby pasta dishes, grilled red meats, hard cheeses, dark chocolate, and wild wild women. Appearance: Deep cherry red draped in darkness moving with slow viscosity through someone else's moonlight. On the snoot: Heady and provocative, with a warm bouquet of black cherry, sweet pipe tobacco, and vintage leather.Taste: There's that black cherry again, but there's also a plum tree in the orchard. She's a mouthful of fruit leading to a place where smoky leather gently pats the naked fannies of multiple seductive tannins. In the afterglow, lingering visions of cocoa, earth, and peppercorn leave the palate euphoric and wandering through a long, well defined finish. Balance: Medium to full bodied and perfectly balanced with no aspect dominant or missing. She's smooth and dry with the gentle nature, poise, and grace of royalty. Long live the queen.Comments: Now THAT'S a Bordeaux! She's delightful company and eternally sexy, kinda like Catherine Deneuve.

Every fiber of my being felt alive and ready to give and receive all the creative force of the Universe, feeling safe and inspired in the moment where I 'Thrive'. So after composing an opera that when listened to would cause peoples auras to go full on rainbow, climbing Mount Everest, and writing a poem to save the world, I decided to kick back and sip a glass of wine with a smile on my face and a song in my heart. Cheers to you, and your incredible potential and personal power, and may you always and forever, 'Thrive'.Served with: Lemon Baked Cod ala Wine Witch. It would be great with any white meat, especially Thanksgiving Day turkey :)Appearance: Pale clear golden with slight emerald glow.On the snoot: Candied pear with angel food cake and a little banana goo on top. Taste: Opens dry, a light crisp pear mingling with floral notes. She then gently moves into something rich and grounded with a soft tropical spirit. A little lime on the finish lingers clean and has an inoffensive and interesting touch of himalayan sea salt.Balance: Very well balanced with a beautiful svelte naked body. Nice and dry with no sticky sweetness, and yet no sharp bite or bitter edges either.Comments: She's sings soprano well, which not all soprano's manage to do. I don't usually prefer whites unless they are solid and grounded. This one is really good. Thanks to Chris at Wordens Market in Missoula for introducing me to such a fine lady of a wine. Other comments:When you see surveillance cameras, do you always stick your tongue out at them, flip them off, or hiss at them like a mad cat; or is it just me who does that?

Then I danced right through that magic portal into a land of lavender scented rain, waterfalls, and ocean shores. There I sipped my wine in the company of glowing madrona's and colorful starfish; the warm soothing song of the faeries lulling me into sweet serenity. Served with: Italian spinach sausage pie would be good. Serve with strong, sturdy flavors such as lamb, venison, and other red meats. Things like herby red sauces, sharp cheddar or bleu cheese, and rich dark chocolate are good choices as well. Avoid more subtle flavors such as cream sauces and fish. She can handle a fair amount of spice and begs to be somewhat challenged when pairing with food. Appearance: Rich ruby velvet muted with a soft glowing antique light, inspiring memories of quiet old books and simpler times. On the snoot: I see a woman standing in the kitchen of an old country cottage picking spices from a cupboard.
