By way of background, opening thoughts: Spring Mountain is a widely known cool region of Napa Valley, favoring classic cabernet sauvignon. This young cabernet sauvignon is 100% Spring Mountain grapes, from negociant Cameron Hughes.Original tasting and review, November, 2011: This is Cameron Hughes Lot 267 Spring Mountain District Cabernet Sauvignon, Napa Valley, California, 2009, finished at 14.6% alcohol.
In the glass: Deep inky magenta, opaque about an eighth of an inch from the edge of the glass.
On the nose: Poured cool with a brief decant and swirled vigorously, shows deep, layered, rich dark fruit in a voluptuous package of soft, silty, shaved milk chocolate. From the aroma, seems like this will be flavorful, deeply aromatic, soft, yielding and lengthy - I can't wait!!
On the palate: The primary elements on the palate are in fact much as promised, with brighter and more apparent fruit than expected, especially ripe blueberry mixed with cherry and blackberry elements. As the sip settles, the tannins come slowly marching to attention, fixing the finish for almost a minute - clean, big, still fruity and layered.
In summary: Overall, rates four stars on the five-star Spirit of Wine scale, with a plus for aromatics that are themselves worth the price of entry. Good value.
Following long decant, full day kept cool in partially filled bottle: Consistent, luscious nose. The brightness on the fruit has layered in to the palate now, creating a silty and deliciously fragrant experience.

Updated review, over a year later, December, 2012: Consistent color and deep nose. Still big and quite fruity on the palate. Does seem to be holding a lot in reserve still.
