By way of background, opening thoughts: Redwood Creek is a bargain line of California varietals, in the "practically free" price category.  Ubiquitous too.

Original tasting and review : This is Redwood Creek Chardonnay, California, non-vintage, finished at 13.% alcohol.

In the glass: Medium yellow with olive overtones.

On the nose: Poured cool and swirled vigorously, shows hint of dry butterscotch and well-toned fruit.  From the aroma, seems like this will be fresh, deep and easy-going.

On the palate: The primary elements on the palate are in fact softer and lusher than anticipated.  A deep, full rush of clean, velvet fruit coats your tongue, but moves to a clean mid-palate, bringing lightly oaked tones and dry, grilled pineapple elements.  Completely clean finish.

In summary: Overall, rates three stars on the five-star Spirit of Wine scale, with a plus for easy-going pleasantness, a remarkable best value at the price.
