Original tasting and review : This is Garnacha de Fuego Old Vines, Calatayud, Spain, 2011, finished at 14.5% alcohol.

In the glass: Deep dusty red and burgundy, opaque in the center.

On the nose: Poured at room temperature and swirled vigorously, shows sweet and light red berries, suggesting a fresh, clean and simple styling.

On the palate: The primary elements on the palate are in fact much richer, layered and aromatic than anticipated.  Brings a full, lush, almost tropical red berry to the fore, following with soft, round and bold white pepper.  Clean layers into the long and rich red, almost-raisined finish.

In summary: Overall, rates three stars on the five-star Spirit of Wine scale, with a plus for the plush, raisiny style.  Best value.
