Original tasting and review : This is Bota Box Cabernet Sauvignon, California, 2009, finished at 13.5% alcohol, an alcohol level I've come to associate with wines being made in quantity designed to appeal to a wide range of tastes.
In the glass: Bota Box Cab shows as deep maroon.
On the nose: Poured at room temperature, shows a slightly candied black cherry aroma. From the aroma, seems like this will be sweet and slick.
On the palate: The primary elements on the palate are in fact round and full in the mid-palate, with brighter black cherry flavors than anticipated. Little follow-on from either acids or tannins on the palate. Finish is brief, but exceedingly clean. Think wine-pop. Little attitude, but pleasant enough to sip. The black cherry flavors are perfectly fun.
In summary: Overall, rates two stars on the five-star Spirit of Wine scale. Earns a plus for its very-easy-to-sip nature.

Updated review, over a year later, October, 2012, with a fresh 3 liter box from 2011 vintage: Light to medium red in the glass. Sweet candy apple and red cherry on the nose. Still "wine-pop", but for this vintage carries less black cherry flavor. More red raspberry. Comparable scoring.
