On the nose: Poured cool with a brief decant and swirled vigorously, shows bright, steely and sweet sauvignon blanc notes. From the aroma, seems like this will be accessible, tangy and slightly sweet.
On the palate: The primary elements on the palate are in fact soft, curly, sweet, with enough aromatics and acids to stay clean and interesting. Fresh, full and lively.
In summary: Overall, rates three stars on the five-star Spirit of Wine scale, with a plus for bright poignancy. Best value.

On the nose: Poured cool with a brief decant and swirled vigorously, shows tangy, fruit deep black berries with a hint of funk. From the aroma, seems like this will be new school fruit with a touch of old school aromatics.
On the palate: The primary elements on the palate are in fact quite new school and friendly indeed. Black plum and fresh blackberries come as part of a soft, yielding mid-palate. The black plums hold the mid-palate for awhile, bringing a tickle of acids into your cheeks for the clean finish.
In summary: Overall, rates two stars on the five-star Spirit of Wine scale, with a plus for overall balance and pleasantness. Nice everyday table choice to accompany a sturdy red meat or cheese-based dish.

Nice slow fade to a clean, creamy finish.

On the palate: The primary elements on the palate are in fact clean, black plum with hints of fresh laundry. Perhaps a touch lighter overall than anticipated, but with juicy, creamy red fruit. Clean finish, wrapping up quite quickly.
In summary: Overall, rates three stars on the five-star Spirit of Wine scale. Best value because of the attractive price point.

Original tasting and review : This is Tin Roof Cellars Red Blend, Lodi, California, 2011, finished at 13.5% alcohol.
In the glass: Teeth-staining burgundy, opaque from a half-inch of the edge.
On the nose: Poured cool with a brief decant and swirled vigorously, shows funky and deep black fruit, complete with helium and inside-of-car-tire rubber elements. From the aroma, seems like this will be husky, bold and aromatic.
On the palate: The primary elements on the palate are in fact much as anticipated, with strong savory and sweet spices melded in. Soft, sweet, spiced and structured. Finishes aromatic and clean.
In summary: Overall, rates a strong four stars on the five-star Spirit of Wine scale, creating an awesome best value.

Overall summary: Tin Roof Cellars represents a great line-up for the price. Most of the six wines sampled proved to be best values; the one that wasn't, Tin Roof Cellars Cabernet Sauvignon, was right on the cusp. The Tin Roof Cellars Merlot, Tin Roof Cellars Chardonnay and Tin Roof Cellars Red Blend were runaway best values, with the Red Blend garnering a very impressive four stars from Spirit of Wine.
