Find retail availability for Almira Los Dos. By way of background, opening thoughts: Various regions of Spain have been sporting some interesting new world wines on distinctly old world vines. Here is a grenache syrah blend made of old vine grapes.
Original tasting and review, September, 2011: This is Almira Los Dos Old Vines Grenache / Syrah, Campo de Borja, Spain, 2009, finished at 14% alcohol, and made with 85% grenache.
In the glass: Almira Los Dos is deep magenta, moving almost to opaque at the center of the glass.
On the nose: Poured cool with a moderate decant and swirled vigorously, shows soft raspberry jam and vegetable stew. From the aroma, seems like this will be eclectic, bright and unique.
On the palate: The primary elements on the palate are in fact raspberry lollipop on the first sip, followed on by grittier, silty tannic crushed aromatic ripe raspberries. Fully ripe plums bring an additional sweet element to the palate, which skates along to a fairly lengthy finish.
In summary: Overall, a rich, friendly experience which would draw me back. A best value.

Updated review, over a year later, November, 2012: Consistent color and nose. Ripe raspberries and plums remain on the palate, too, generating a consistent three star rating.
